His influence ensures that darkness never entirely consumes the light, keeping the forces of evil at bay.


Physical Description

Hieros is often depicted as a towering figure of incandescent light, his form an amalgamation of mortal and celestial features. His skin radiates a golden hue, his eyes burn with the brilliance of the rising sun, and his hair cascades in fiery streams of pure light. Clad in gleaming armor etched with ancient runes, he wields Solstice, a divine longsword said to hold the power of the first dawn. A mantle of flowing sunlight drapes over his shoulders, constantly shifting like the morning sky.

  3. Renewal Rites: These rituals involve purification through sunlight or fire. Devotees confess their fears and doubts before an altar of Hieros, leaving offerings of gold, candles, or polished mirrors as symbols of reflection and clarity.

Temples and Shrines

The grand temples of Hieros are architectural marvels, built to capture the maximum light of the sun.

  • Solar Sanctum: The most sacred temple of Hieros, located in Theos. The sanctum’s main chamber houses a massive golden sunburst window that bathes the interior in sunlight at dawn.
  • Shrines: Smaller shrines are scattered across Nathakra, usually located on hilltops, roadsides, or near water sources. These shrines feature a sunburst sigil and a brazier where offerings can be burned.
  • Dawnbringer Halls: Fortified structures used by the Nathakran Dawnbringers to train, worship, and protect the lands in Hieros’s name. Dawnbringer Halls are located throughout all of Nathakra.
  • Aurara’s Bastion: Located in the Dawnspire Peaks, it is the headquarters of Nathakran Dawnbringers.

Legends and Myths
  1. The First Dawn: Legends tell that Hieros was born from the merging of the primal elements of light and time. His emergence banished the eternal night that threatened to consume Nathakra during the Primordial Times, establishing the first dawn.
  2. The Binding of Shadows: During the Age of Despair, Hieros descended to confront Malachi, the Harbinger of Shadows. Although unable to destroy Malachi entirely, Hieros’s sacrifice sealed him away in the Underworld, ensuring peace for a time.
  3. The Radiant Pact: It is said that Hieros forged the Nathakran Dawnbringers by granting them a fragment of his own divine light, entrusting them to protect Nathakra in his stead.

Role in Nathakra

Hieros is a central figure in Nathakra’s pantheon, embodying unwavering resistance against corruption and despair. He is the moral compass of the pantheon, often mediating disputes between deities. His influence extends to lawmaking, healing, and acts of heroism. Hieros is particularly beloved by paladins, clerics, and all who stand for justice. His light is considered both a physical and spiritual shield, ensuring that even in the darkest moments, hope remains alive.
