For nearly fifteen years, Nathakra has lived in my imagination.
What began as sketches on paper, scattered ideas, and late-night inspiration slowly grew into something far greater than I ever expected. At first, I simply wanted to build a fantasy world that felt alive, a place with its own history, mythology, cultures, heroes, villains, and mysteries waiting to be uncovered.
Then my son, Xander, came along.
Like so many parents, I wanted to leave him something meaningful. So, after nearly a decade of Nathakra living quietly in the background of my imagination, I finally began writing a story for him, one where the young hero bore his name and discovered that true courage isn’t measured by strength alone, but by kindness, sacrifice, and the choices we make when no one is watching.
That story became Rise of the Last Paladin.
Somewhere along the way, however, Nathakra stopped being just a story for my son. It became a world that demanded to be explored. Every answer uncovered another question. Every kingdom had a history. Every creature had a purpose. Every forgotten ruin had a story waiting to be told.
Today, Nathakra is far more than a series of novels. It is an ever-growing fantasy world filled with detailed lore, original races and creatures, maps, music, artwork, worldbuilding videos, and countless stories still waiting to be written. It is a place I continue to build almost every day, always with the hope that others might one day lose themselves in it as completely as I have.
My greatest inspiration has always been J.R.R. Tolkien, whose ability to create a world that felt truly ancient and alive showed me what fantasy could be. More recently, Matt Mercer and the incredible storytelling of Critical Role have reminded me that worlds like these are meant to be shared, explored, and brought to life around a table with friends.
One of my greatest dreams is that Nathakra will one day become more than a series of novels and worldbuilding articles. I hope it grows into a complete campaign setting where groups of adventurers can forge their own legends, create unforgettable memories, and experience epic tabletop adventures in the spirit of games like Dungeons & Dragons.
